Native to Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela, suma root is a large ground vine with an extensive root system. For centuries, suma root has been used in traditional Amazonian healing practices for its adaptogenic and healthful properties. Nicknamed Brazilian ginseng or para tudo (translating from Spanish as “for all”), the root has a sweet, vanilla-like flavor that is often added to herbal formulations.
