It comes from an organic farming cooperative in and around Junin, Peru. We work only with suppliers who own and manage their lands at a local grass roots level. The cooperative of farmers is committed both to organic farming and to producing only the highest quality maca products.

What Makes Our Gelatinized Black Maca Powder Special

What makes this gelatinized black maca powder “premium” is the way in which it is processed. Instead of being sundried, maca roots are fresh processed immediately after harvest. After being carefully taken out of the ground they are graded and transported immediately to a processing facility. There, they cleaned in a citrus solution and low temperature dried. This special modern, fast processing leaves more glucosinolates and other nutrients in the final product.
After initial drying, the maca roots are then gelatinized. Gelatinization is a process in which maca is heated to high temperatures (160F / 70C). The heat causes the starch molecules in maca to irreversibly dissolve and the result is a powder that is easier to digest than raw maca.
